Stephen Amell Cast as Casey Jones in "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2"

Right on the heels of the first filming report, we're now getting some casting news for the upcoming sequel to last year's Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie. Stephen Amell, who plays Oliver Queen/Arrow on "Arrow," apparently won the role of Casey Jones in auditions held just this past weekend.

According to Variety.com, "Amell tested with a half-dozen actors over the weekend, but it was his chemistry with Fox that led to the studio eventually giving the role to the star of CW’s 'Arrow.'"

Amell steps into the shoes of Elias Koteas, who is the only other actor to play Casey Jones in a live-action role. Koteas, who played the role in the first and third New Line Cinema live-action movies, is still highly praised for his performances even 25 years later and for many remains the quintessential Casey Jones. (Yes, TMNT fans, the first live-action movie turned 25 this past Sunday, March 29!)

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2 is currently scheduled for release June 3, 2016.

"Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2" Title Possibly Revealed

Reports from this past weekend possibly provided some details on the sequel to last year's "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles" movie from Paramount, which has started filming in New York.

One scene, filmed Wednesday at Madison Square Garden, had Will Arnett's character, Vern Fenwick, at a basketball game with his apparent girlfriend, played by Victoria's Secret lingerie model Alessandra Ambrosio. (Convenient, considering the last shot of the first movie.) During filming, the two shared a bag of popcorn and, apparently, at least one kiss.

During a podcast interview with The Lowe Post, LA Clippers star J.J. Redick detailed, that he, along with fellow Clippers Austin Rivers, Matt Barnes, Spencer Hawes, and DeAndre Jordan were featured in the filming along with five Knicks players. He also let slip that the title might be "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Half Shell."

Of course, shooting titles are subject to change, so it's hard to take any meaning from this.

Kevin Eastman Joins IDW Team with Exclusivity Contract

In an announcement yesterday at Emerald City Comic Con, IDW and Kevin Eastman announce that Eastman has signed an exclusivity contract with IDW that will see all of his new projects created solely with IDW.

From a press release, it was detailed that Eastman will be joining the IDW staff "in their newly announced move to San Diego’s historic Liberty Station NTC offices with an office on-site, and his original works will mark the inaugural exhibition of the San Diego Comic Art Gallery"

More information about the gallery here: http://www.idwpublishing.com/idw-publishing-makes-big-move
IDW’s working relationship with Eastman started in 2011 with the launch of the all-new IDW Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles series. Eastman has continued to work closely with IDW on projects including classic reprints of the Ninja Turtles, special IDW Limited editions featuring original art alongside essential stories, and cover art for hit original series. A number of new projects will be announced in the coming months as part of this agreement.

Nickelodeon to Release TMNT 4Kids Series on DVD

In a long-anticipated move, Nickelodeon has announced the DVD re-release of two volumes of episodes from the 4Kids TMNT cartoon series. Unfortunately, it's probably not the release fans have been waiting for.

From a pressrelease provided by TVShowsOnDVD.com:
The classic 2003 series of the hot Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles franchise returns to DVD with Volume 1 and Volume 2. Each single-disc volume includes 3 first season episodes filled with all the ninja action and comic-book adventure that TMNT fans love...released in time for summer and available at hot, low value pricing!
So, we're getting two single-disc volumes that have only three episodes, and it also sounds like they might not even be the first six episodes?

Honestly, I have no idea what to expect from this. On the one hand, sales of these will probably be used to justify future releases. But, if you don't yet have these episodes on DVD, you probably want to hold out for something better.
