First it was John Fusco, then it was Art Marcum and Matt Halloway. Hopefully the third time is a charm, as Deadline.com is now reporting Josh Appelbaum and Andre Nemec as the new writers on board the planned Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles reboot film from Paramount.
Script problems have been reported for awhile now, and have caused the projected release date to quietly slide from 2011 to 2012. Although there's been no official word from Nickelodeon or Paramount, the new movie is now not expected to see release before 2013.
Yeah that's... Not good.
ReplyDeleteNothing says project destined for the crapper like constant writing team shifts.
Of course it could be that the first few teams were producing horrible ideas, but as often is the case it could also mean that this is drifting further and further away from it's original intent.
The John Fusco assignment seemed horrible from the get-go, so I'm glad they axed him relatively quickly. That they had to go change it again, though, is worrisome.
ReplyDeleteI think the problem that might plague the TMNT in general is that people just don't know what the hell to do with them.
I had heard the last script was too cartoony and goofy, they wanted to get it to be more serious. I hope this script shift works out well in the end.
