This is the first entry in a series to highlight all of the deleted scenes from the original 1990 Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie. While all of the deleted scenes from the movie are fairly well documented throughout books and comics, we still have yet to see any of these scenes in their entirety. This is a key reason why releasing a Special Edition DVD of this movie is a necessity!
While the movie ended with our heroes triumphant on the rooftop of a building, there was one final scene in the script. This scene had April and Danny in the office of a comic book publisher, trying to pitch the idea of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.
Here are some photos from that scene, as well as the actual script that was used for filming!
These last two photos below look similar, but they are slightly different if you look closely. The first one is stitched together from four separate stickers, which is why it looks slightly skewed.
And now, here is the script from this scene:
EXT. SKYSCRAPER – DAY – ESTABLISHING
a steel and glass monolith to the genius of man.
INT. PUBLISHER’S OFFICE – DAY
covered with posters of comic book heroes, many of them rather outlandish.
April sits in a chair before a huge executive desk, behind which sits a man wearing an immaculate business suit and glasses.
He’s looking through a folder containing April’s sketches of the Turtles.
Finally, he closes the folder.
PUBLISHER
These are very interesting, Miss
O’Neil. But as the basis for a
comic book, I’m afraid the idea is
just too...
(searching for the right word)
... farfetched.
April can’t help but laugh, not only for the irony, but because she can see something that he can’t through the window behind him:
THE TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES
stuck to the outside of the window and reacting with unrestrained exasperations.
And as Michaelangelo slaps his forehead, falling from his position
CUT TO:
EXT. THE BUILDING – DAY
and the ledge of the floor beneath the other Turtles, where one of Michaelangelo’s hands hangs on.
He pulls himself up to the ledge on his elbows, cradles his chin, and then turn, LOOKING DIRECTLY INTO CAMERA:
MICHAELANGELO
"Farfetched..."
And off his final look of incredulity
FADE OUT:
THE END

Yeah, that backdrop is pretty painfully obvious. ^_^
ReplyDeleteI don't want any of the scenes inserted into the movie; I just want to see all of the scenes.
That is really cool!
ReplyDeletetey also had this in the comic book adaption of the movie
